HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The chairman of the House Republican Policy Committee joined Congressman Steven Palazzo as he met with physicians at a Hattiesburg medical facility Tuesday afternoon. Georgia Rep. Tom Price and Palazzo spoke to doctors at Southern Bone and Joint Specialists. Price, a former orthopedic surgeon, listened to some concerns the physicians have about the future of health care.

"They're having difficulty being able to make medical decisions for their patients," said Price. "It's no longer patients and families and doctors making medical decisions, it's insurance companies and government and that's just wrong," Price said.

"The main thing we need as orthopedists is to be able to function more efficiently and effectively and that's the kind of healthcare change we'd love to see happen," said Dr. Douglas Rouse, an orthopedic surgeon with Southern Bone and Joint Specialists.

Price practiced medicine in Atlanta for 20 years before entering politics. It was his first-ever visit to Hattiesburg.
