JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A Jones County man was killed Monday night, August 13, in a one-vehicle motorcycle accident on Old Highway 15 South in the Glade community.

At 6:40 p.m. medical first responders and rescue units from Glade and Powers Volunteer Fire Departments responded to the scene of the accident where a 47-year old man, who was traveling south on a Yamaha V Star motorcycle with his son in a vehicle just ahead of him, apparently lost control of his motorcycle as he rounded a curve, ran off the road and struck a power pole.  His son reported seeing the accident occur when he glanced in his rearview mirror.

Joseph Larry McAlpin was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Medical Examiner Investigator Ernest Hollingsworth.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Jones County Sheriff's Department.

Also responding to the scene were Jones County Fire Coordinator and medical first responder Dan McKenna, EMServ ambulance service, Jones County District Attorney's Office Investigator Wayne Black, Jones County Fire Council Chaplain Brother Drew Blanton and Dixie Electric Power Association.
