Eleven students were injured in a school bus wreck in Madison Monday morning. None of the injuries were believed to be life threatening, according to Madison police. Both the driver of a car that rear ended the school bus and a passenger were treated on the scene and released.
When our crews arrived at the fire station, across from Fairfield subdivision on Highway 463, students were still being treated but the bus and car that hit it were gone. We saw two students loaded into ambulances. Eleven students complaining of pain were transported to local hospitals.
Asst. Police Chief Robert Sanders of Madison told us what happened. "A school bus was stopped there fixing to make a turn into Madison Middle School, whenever a second vehicle collided with the rear end of the school bus. How many people were injured. We had 11 total that were complaining of pain, four of which were transported by ambulance, and the remaining seven went by personal vehicle."
Sanders said no tickets were issued at the scene and the accident is still under investigation. It happened about 8 a.m.
