Jones County School Board takes legal action against supervisors

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

On Friday, during a specially called meeting, The Jones County School Board said it would let the courts decide who will pay the $2.8 million bond indebtedness bill.

School Board Attorney Terry Caves said the board instructed him to take the proper steps to get the debt pay.

Caves said the law clearly states that supervisors shall grant the school district whatever it requests financially.

He said the school board has done everything they possible can to cut district expenses.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Tommy Parker said he plans to meet with all school employees on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. to personal explain to them where the district is financially.
