LUMBERTON, MS (WDAM) - Lumberton city employees found out Thursday night they will get paid this week...a day late but thankfully, not a dollar short. At a special called meeting, the Board of Aldermen voted to approve the city's payroll for the month, which means all 22 city employees will get paid Friday.
Payday is normally on Thursday.
Two days ago, aldermen voted not to pay the city's bills...including paychecks. No reason was given, but city workers said it was all part of a disagreement among the aldermen.
No one from the city would comment on camera, but Mayor Miriam Holder did tell us she would sign the employee's checks after the meeting.
