The Lafayette County Sheriff's Department and Wiggins Police have both confirmed they are searching for 32-year-old Christina Howie and her daughter 7-year-old Caitlyn Howie both of Oxford.

According to the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department Christina left Oxford with her daughter Wednesday, August 1 and headed to the coast.

Investigator Jarrett Bundren with the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department said Christina was headed to D'Iberville with her daughter to meet friends in her 2007 blue Nissan Altima. The vehicle tag number reads LYI98.

The two were reportedly staying at the Best Western in Wiggins Friday. They left the hotel Saturday morning and came back later that night to pay the bill, according to Bundren.

Bundren said Christina has not contacted her husband or other immediate family members since she left Wednesday.

"Using a pay phone she left a message on her friend's phone that said, she was hungry and wanted to head back to the friend's home on Friday at around 8 p.m.," Bundren said. "Her cell phone is broken and she was supposed to be back home Saturday."

Investigators said they believe Christina and her daughter are still here in South Mississippi.

If you have any information on their whereabouts you can contact the Wiggins Police Department at 601-928-5444 or the Lafayette County Sheriff's Department at 662-234-6421.

The two are listed under the NCIC (National Crime Information Center) database for missing people.
