Laurel officers solves burglary before it's ever reported

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - Laurel Police Officer Lane Bound ironically solved a burglary before it was ever reported by the homeowner.

Police Chief Tyrone Stewart said Officer Lane Bound stop 20-year-old Marcus Easterling walking along 6th Avenue and 8th Street in Laurel for suspicious behavior.

Easterling was allegedly in possession of marijuana and a sock filled with jewelry. Police say after he was arrested and booked on marijuana charges a 5th Avenue, the homeowner later called police to report her home had been burglarized and jewelry and coins stolen from her home.

Easterling was then charged with burglary. He remains in Jones County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
