United Way Pace Setters kick off 2012 fund raising campaign

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The United Way Pace Setters organization for the United Way of South Mississippi kicked off their 2012 fund raising campaign Tuesday.

The pace setters are made up of 11 local businesses who conduct their employee donation campaign a month earlier than the community wide campaign. By doing this, they are building momentum and setting the pace for the rest of the community to follow.

The community wide campaign will begin September, 6,  at which time the pace setters will announce how much they have been able to raise.

"We have reorganized our committees to be focused on industries and business types. That work is being done behind the scenes where we can roll it all up to set our goal," said Russ Hendley, Pace Setter Chairman. "The pace setters will get out in the forefront and set the pace for the rest of them to raise the rest of the money."

This year the pace setters are made up of Anderson Design Center, Bancorp South, Christian Services, Dixie Electric Power Association, Forrest General Hospital, Hattiesburg Clinic, Regions Bank, Southeast Mississippi, Rural Health Initiative, Target, And Zeon Chemicals.
