Hattiesburg Zoo celebrating National Zoo Keeper week

The Hattiesburg Zoo is celebrating National Zoo Keeper week July 16 through the 22nd with many different activities.

The zoo will host activities ranging from animal encounters to shows featuring kids from their summer camps and certain animals.

Zoo keeper Katie Barry hopes the week will show the public exactly what their job entails.

"We want to show the different aspects of our job so we can prove that we really are ambassadors for the animals."

Educational sessions on the animals and their exhibits are held from one to three everyday this week featuring different animals.

Next week will continue with the summer theme of conservation with the campers, and will end the summer program with the kids presenting a show to their parents.
