BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - New Alabama State running back Isaiah Crowell is already the center of attention in the SWAC.

The former Georgia starter and five-star prospect was a hot topic at Monday's Southwestern Athletic Conference media day. His presence helped make the Hornets the preseason favorite to win the East Division.

Georgia coach Mark Richt dismissed Crowell in early July after the sophomore was arrested on felony weapons charges. A few days later, he had transferred to Alabama State.

Alabama State coach Reggie Barlow says Crowell knows he has no margin for error and feels "he's embraced it and now he's looking forward to kind of rebuild his credibility.

Quarterback Greg Jenkins says Crowell is already part of the "family." The back wasn't a first- or second-team preseason All-SWAC pick.
