LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - A Jasper County man is behind bars after allegedly cutting thousands of dollars worth of timber off property and never paying the landowners what they are owed.
Otha William McGlaston was arrested in Jones County on Friday, after more than a half dozen people say he cut timber off of their land and never paid them a dime.
McGlaston is allegedly the owner of Williams Timber in Jasper County.
Authorities say McGlaston started his scam back in April. After an investigation authorities learned six or more people have had their timber cut and were never paid by McGlaston.
McGlaston remains in the Jones County Jail on a $10,000 bond for payment of timber acquired resale.
