Jones County schools asking for tax increase

The Jones School District is asking for a tax increase.

Superintendent Tommy Parker said the district can no longer make the county bond indebtedness payments. The increase would be 10 mil. Parker stated that the district is having some serious financial problems and added "this is something that has been laid in his lap but it's a problem that has to be dealt with."

Parker went on to say dozens of jobs have already been cut and others have not been filled.
