The town of Sumrall kept with tradition by holding a day long Independence Day celebration Wednesday.
The day started with a parade through the center of the town followed by a day of festivities at the town park. There were jump houses and water slides for the kids, several vendors selling a variety of crafts, food, and other items. An auction was held to benefit the many charities the Lions Club support and live entertainment throughout the day.
The July 4th celebration has been a tradition in Sumrall since 1976.
"We've always had a great crowd. It's just something that in this particular area families look forward to this day," said Hank Lott, Event Organizer. "This just what we do on the 4th of July. We come out to celebrate our independence together and just have a great family oriented day."
The day's celebration will conclude Wednesday evening with a fireworks show at 9 p.m.
