Utilities throughout the state along with the Attorney General's Office are warning customers about phone scams.
Electric Power Association officials note a caller in one scam asked the victim to provide personal bank account information as well as a bank routing number to pay off the victim's electric bill.
Other utility officials say another scam promises federal stimulus money for utility bills in exchange for a customer's personal information.
If you suspect a scam, you're asked to call the Consumer Protection Division of the Mississippi Attorney General's office, toll free, at 1-800-281-4418.
