Three unoccupied Hattiesburg homes destroyed by fire

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Two early morning fires kept Hattiesburg firefighters busy Monday.

The first call came in at around 5 a.m. to a fire at  two homes in the 1300-block of Elizabeth Avenue. Both homes were unoccupied and scheduled for demolition. Authorities said no utilities were connected to either home. They are calling the fire suspicious and are offering a $1000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

The second call came in also around 5 a.m. for a fire at a home in 1600-block of Cedar Street. This home was also unoccupied and was being used as a storage facility for an Edwards Street variety store. The cause of this one is under investigation.
