MARION COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Marion county officials pronounced dead a man, woman, and a child after recovering their bodies from the water on Sunday from under a bridge in Marion County.

The victims have been identified as Juan Rodriguez, 44, Samantha Shell, 23, and Shell's one-and-a-half-year-old son Waylon. All three were from Lawrence County.

The bodies were discovered near the Lower Little River Bridge along Hwy 43 South. An investigation is underway. Authorities say it is not known how the three drowned. The only witnesses to the drowning's were Shell's six and three-year-old children.

Volunteer fire and rescue personnel, AAA Ambulance, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, and the Marion County Sheriff's Office responded.
