CAMP SHELBY, MS (WDAM) -

A statewide motorcycle organization which supports the families of fallen American heros and wounded soldiers is in Hattiesburg this weekend for an annual recreational meeting.

Dozens of members of the Patriot Guard Riders of Mississippi are attending their 4th annual "Gathering of the Guard."

On the agenda Saturday was a visit to the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum at Camp Shelby.

The Patriot Guard often provides an escort for military funerals. They also help support programs such as Operation Homefront and the Wounded Warrior Project.

"This (Patriot Guard) is a patriotic organization and this museum is just nothing but pure patriotism at its finest and we just have a great group and good support and Hattiesburg has just taken care of us quite well," said Dean Jaynes, a member of the Mississippi Patriot Guard Riders.

"We've been taking the Patriot Guard through the museum, explaining what we have to offer and sharing our story with them as they share their story with us," said Gary Johnson, curator at the Mississippi Armed Forces Museum.

The "Gathering of the Guard" wraps up Sunday.
