Laurel Chief Administrator now says he'll stay on board

Posted: Updated:

Laurel Chief Administrator Dennis Keveryn has decided to take his punishment and continue working for the city.

Laurel Mayor Melvin Mack placed him on a three day suspension, which began Monday.

Mayor Mack made the decision last Thursday after Keveryn got into a verbal altercation with Ward Seven Councilman Trey Chin over a policy.

Mayor Mack said he doesn't have the power to reprimand an elected official; however, Keveryn is a city employee, therefore he need to be punished for his actions.

Keveryn returns to work on Thursday.
