Hattiesburg's Festival South continued this weekend with a Sunday brunch at The Purple Parrot restaurant. Diners were serenaded by the melodies of the Daniel Schroeder Jazz Trio. The event lasted for about three hours - a lot of families headed out to enjoy the music as well as the food. Quite a few patrons had booked reservations to take dad out for a nice Father's Day meal - complete with jazz.
"It's great," said Trio guitarist Daniel Schroeder. "We've been doing this for three years at The Purple Parrot and it's always a good crowd. Today they've actually got people in here which is nice, they're seating people inside so it's a really fun really fun thing."
"It's a nice laid back environment, no pressure," said Trio saxophonist Scott Johnson of playing at the restaurant. "Easy to play for and people appreciate us in the intimate setting.
Schroeder will also be appearing at The Bottling Company's jazz luncheons through this week.
