Vandals target local business

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

Hattiesburg Police are looking any tips into the search for vandals that have taken aim at eyeglass and optometry office Eye Works. The location in the shopping center on the corner of Hardy Street and 40th Avenue has been the target of three separate incidents.

"We arrived on the 26th of May to find our front door chained and locked, said Eye Works Owner Steve Gibson of the first incident. "The following Wednesday [June 6] we arrived and had glue screwed into the door lock and we couldn't get our keys in, locking us out again. And we filed a police report for that. And we've also had our telephone number inadvertently changed by someone on Google."

"Someone other than the criminal knows about this and all we want is your info and not your name, to help solve this crime," says Diane James, Coordinator of Metro Crime Stoppers.

"Someone's obviously trying to intimidate our business and we're trying to ask people to help us find out who it is," said Gibson.

Eye Works is offering a $500 reward for tips leading to the arrests of the vandal(s). If you have any information, contact Steve Gibson at Eye Works at 601-261-2221.
