(RNN) - Now pizza has something in common with soda, candy bars and potato chips – you can get them all from a vending machine.

"Let's Pizza" has been a hit in Europe for the last three years, and the Dutch company that distributes the machine is bringing it to the United States.

A1 Concepts plans to build a U.S. headquarters in Atlanta late this year, and CEO Ronald Rammers expects the company's popularity in the states to spread about as quickly as the machine makes pizza.

"We don't have the intention to become the competition of the existing players," Rammers said in an interview with Pizzamarketplace.com. "But once people discover the quality of the pizza and the convenience and, indeed, the speed factor, we expect to have competition in our favor."

It's no fantasy – fresh-baked pizza made with natural ingredients, piping hot in your hands in about 2 1/2 minutes. The cost for each pizza is expected to be about $6.

The machine works by mixing flour and water and producing a disk of dough about 11" in diameter. A mechanical arm then squirts tomato paste on the dough and places cheese and your choice of toppings. An infrared oven cooks the pizza and puts it in your hands in a few minutes.

Each machine is connected to the internet to help keep track of inventory and has capacity for enough ingredients to make 200 pizzas.

Rammers was pretty much mum on exactly which businesses had bought into the idea, but he may have let the cat out of the bag.

"A large theme park in Florida wants the pizza machines in their location," Rammers said. "This way, they can offer the same quality of pizzas all day and they will likely charge more."

It may not take too wild a guess to figure out which theme park that is, especially since inventor Claudio Torghele showed his brainchild off at a trade fair in Orlando in 2003, according to the New York Times.

Let's Pizza may have already passed its toughest test.

According to Rammers, the machine is most popular in Italy, a country known as the birthplace of pizza as well as for the methodical way in which it prepares food.

The novelty factor and the fact that Italy has more vending machines than any other country in Europe helps, too.

"Let's Pizza is a huge success in Europe and especially in Italy. That was proof for us that we have a very good pizza," Rammers said.
