Forrest County deputies respond to car accident; find driver shot

FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

Forrest County deputies responding to an accident call Monday night discovered the driver of the wrecked car had actually been shot.

Deputies are now looking for Darryl Thompson Jr., 21, as the suspected shooter. The driver of the vehicle, who has not been identified, is listed in critical condition at a Hattiesburg hospital. 

Authorities say his female passenger fled the car for safety. The vehicle crashed into a bridge in the Rawls Springs area around 11 p.m. 

Thompson is being sought on aggravated assault charges and authorities say he may be driving a 1997 green Mercury Marquis.
