Former NFL linebacker Jeff Posey stopped by the Ben McNair Center Monday to speak to the kids on opening day of the Hattiesburg Police Athletic League Camp.
More than 160-campers are taking part in the seven-week camp. Campers will be exposed to academic skill building activities, social development experiences, and sports and recreational activities.
The program is in its third-year in Hattiesburg and is modeled after the Police Athletic Leagues camps in New York City.
"I found it was a program that was needed and one that has in the three short years we've been in existence has made a difference in the lives of a lot of kids," said Ricky Myers, Captain, Hattiesburg Police Department. "
The kids also had an opportunity to tour the Hattiesburg Police Department on day one of the camp.
