WDAM Viewpoint- Summer Curfews

Just a reminder to parents and young people alike.  Summer break means that curfews for those under 18 are in effect.  For example, in the city of Hattiesburg, the police department informs us that the times when those under 18 are not to be out without their parent or legal guardian are 11PM to 6AM Sunday through Thursday and Midnight to 6AM on Friday and Saturday.  According to a Hub City Police Spokesman, "Any juveniles in violation of the ordinance may be detained and the parents could receive fines for every juvenile who is in violation of the ordinance."  In this day and age I think this is a wise law.  Not much good is happening after 11 or 12 at night and those under 18 are better off at home with their parents.  Most of the other municipalities in our viewing area have similar curfews and—if you are unaware of the town ordinance where you live—we would advise you to call your local police department and find out for sure.  I'm Jim Cameron and that's today's Viewpoint.  As always, we want to know what's on your mind…so let us know in the following manner.
