Stratton allows three homers, Bulldogs fall to Samford 5-0 in regional play

SEC Pitcher of the Year Chris Stratton allowed three home runs, two in a nightmare of an eighth inning, and Mississippi State fell 5-0 to Samford in the first round of the Tallahassee regional. Stratton wasn't the only pitcher to allow a homer in the eighth.

Caleb Reed surrendered a bomb to Christiaan Durdaller immediately after coming in for Stratton. The Bulldogs of Samford scored four of their five runs in the eighth inning to walk away with the win. The opened up the scoring with the long ball, when Saxton Butler took Stratton over the wall in the second inning.

Mississippi State meanwhile falls into the loser's bracket, and will have to play the loser of the UAB and Florida State matchup Saturday morning at 11:00.
