Of course the Golden Eagles would prefer to keep playing, but instead they'll have to make due with a 4-2 win over the Owls of Rice in the Conference USA tournament. Southern Miss (32-24), off RBI from four different hitters, overcame an early 1-0 deficit to take down their conference foes.

Rice (40-17) opened up the scoring when Owls rightfielder Jeremy Rathjen sent a shot through the hole between first and second to score the games opening run. The Owls led 1-0 at that point.

The Golden Eagles responded with RBI from Michael Sterling and Mason Robbins in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 2-1 lead. Rice tied things up in the top of the sixth, but Blake Brown and Bradley Roney brought in two more scores, and the Golden Eagles never looked back.
