Bobby Smith, retired WDAM chief engineer, dies

MOSELLE, MS (WDAM) -

Bobby Smith, one of the longest serving employees in WDAM's history, died Thursday afternoon at the age of 82.

WDAM Vice President and General Manager, Jim Cameron, said, "I know that I am speaking on behalf of all the WDAM family when I say that Bobby Smith's passing is a tremendous loss for all of us. He helped put the station on the air in 1956 and was an invaluable member of our management team as Chief Engineer for several decades. As much as anyone he was responsible for our success and service to the community. He was an outstanding Christian gentleman who lived his beliefs. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time of grief for us all."

Smith helped lay the foundation of the WDAM main building in 1956.

Visitation will be May 29th from 5:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at Ellisville Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held May 30th at 2:00 p.m. at West Ellisville Baptist Church.
