At approximately 7 p.m. Saturday a car ran a stop sign at the intersection of Old Highway 35 North and Airport Road, into the path of an oncoming pickup truck towing a horse trailer said Marion County coroner Norma Williamson. The pickup T-boned the car - killing two passengers and leaving the third - a baby - in critical condition.
Cherelle Jones, 24 years old, of Jeff Davis County was killed on impact, and the driver of the car Verber Connerly, in his thirties, of Marion County died at the hospital. Jones' son, who was not in a car seat, is currently at UMC Children's Hospital. Doctors say he is improving, but still in critical condition.
The passengers in the pickup truck and the horse suffered no serious injuries.
The mother of 18-year-old Addie May, who was killed early Saturday morning in a drive-by shooting, collected her daughter's diploma during her graduation from Laurel High School Tuesday night.
