Pedestrian killed along I-59 in Jones County

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

Shortly before midnight Saturday, Laurel Police Dispatch received a 911 call from a female saying she had just struck a white male walking down Interstate 59 just north of the 93 Exit. Patrol division responded to the call, and arrived on the scene to find the man lying in the grass near Sanderson Farms.

The man was transported to South Central Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.  Authorities say alcohol was not involved.

As of Sunday evening, no charges have been filed against the female driver nor have any names been released.
