JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

About 25 parents and some members of the NAACP were outside the Jones County School District office Friday morning demanding equal treatment for their children.

They said they had concerns about how their children were being treated saying there is inconsistency in the way school policy's are enforced. Other concerns were that discipline was not equally distributed among students and education was not a priority.

They also had concerns that there is very little black representation on the school board and in the schools.

"I would like to see some black people on some of these boards.  Jones County has very few black teachers in the school system, said Polly Windam, concerned parent. "But for the teachers in general, I would like to see their mentality toward the children change. Let the children be your focus."

The parents say they have another demonstration planned for the next school board meeting.
