HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The rain held off Saturday morning for one Hattiesburg milestone. The Hub City held it's first half-marathon Saturday morning at the crack of dawn.

Hattiesburg Clinic's Rise and Shine Half-Marathon and 5K race pulled in runners from not just the Pine Belt, but the country. In fact it was so popular the race was capped at three hundred and fifty people. The 5K and half-marathon both started at Jackson Station on the Longleaf Trace and continued in opposite directions. Water, pizza, and even smoothies were at the finish line to help re-hydrate the exhausted runners.

Race Director Heather Hood said, "We're so proud of the turn out.  It's been a lot of planning to make a great, first half-marathon for local runners."

All proceeds went to the ARC.
