What started off as a cloudy Saturday morning, led into a wet and stormy afternoon for much of the area.

Reports as of 3:30 PM:

Damage reports continue to come in from the Shady Grove area near Laurel. Roof damage and large trees are reported down along Sleepy Hollow Road. High winds also removed the roof of one mobile home on Old Barn Road.  No one was injured.

"Citizens reported that they saw a tornado...nothing has been confirmed by the National Weather Service at this time," said Marda Tullos, deputy director of Jones County Emergency Management. "So, it could possibly be straight-line winds. We were not under any kind of watch or warning at the time," Tullos said.

Reports as of 2:30 PM:

WLOX reports a possible tornado caused damage to rural parts of Stone County Saturday morning, in the Magnolia community southwest of Wiggins.

Another severe thunderstorm rolled through Greene County, where strong winds caused a tree to fall on a building south of Leakesville, leading to a fire. Multiple reports of hail also flowed in during the same time period.

A strong storm moved through Jones County Saturday afternoon, dropping pea to dime sized hail from Ellisville, through Laurel. Power lines were also reported down along Indian Springs Road and in the Shady Grove area. Many residents also lost power during the storm.
