Laurel Public Works converts to four-day work week

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

Beginning May 7, the City of Laurel Public Works Department will begin working from 6 until 4:30 p.m., four days a week.

Trash and garbage pickup schedules will remain the same; however, residents are asked to put out their garbage the night before the scheduled pickup and make sure that the trash receptacles are secure so that animals will not get into them.

With the price of diesel fuel and gas at an all-time high, the administration of the city believes this is one way of saving the city money, officials said.
