Burglary suspect arrested in Laurel after manhunt

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A North Mississippi man was arrested shortly after 10 a.m. after Laurel Police and the Jones County Sheriff's searched for him for around two hours. 

Tearout Lenear Hutchins, 47 is accused of two overnight burglaries at Sears on Sandy lane in the county and McCoy's Building Supply on West 20th Street inside the city limit. Hutchins was found hiding in a culvert on Wansley Road by a Laurel narcotics officer.

The man was last seen wearing a motorcycle helmet. Authorities say he hid his motorcycle in the woods of the Wansley area Wednesday night, and returned for it Thursday morning.

In the break-ins Hutchins is accused of stealing a truck and building supplies from McCoy's and building supplies from Sears.

He currently is being held in the Jones County jail.
