HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The Hattiesburg Public Library is making sure its visitors have more at their fingertips than just books.

The library is now constructing a new computer lab, and adding more access to wireless Internet. The library will add 50 percent more computers, going from 28 to 42.

Three grants from the State Library Commission made the expansion possible. The computer lab should be finished in late May. According to the Assistant Director of the Library, Sean
Farrell,  this improvement will help a particular group of the visitors.

"We did a survey, and it is basically true in our library and state wide, that over a third of the people who use our computers are using it for some sort of either job seeking, or professional use. We are happy that we can help out. It is one of the things we are suppose to do, and I hope we do an even better job of it in the future," said Farrell.

The library's east lab and computer rooms closed on April 23. Extra computers and printers are available in the west lab, until construction is complete.
