WDAM Viewpoint- Prom night safety

It's about time for the high school proms to begin.   Prom night is a special night and a tradition.  Most of us can still remember who our prom dates were no matter how long it has been.  It's a time for fun.  Unfortunately, for too many…that fun goes too far and involves drugs and alcohol.  Mixing substances like that with young inexperienced drivers is far too often a deadly combination.  A fatal or life-changing injury can turn the pleasant memory of a prom into a nightmare one carries for the rest of their lives—if they survive.  We hope all parents will consider the peer pressure involved and have a sensible talk with your teen teenagers about this subject.  For any prom goers who are watching…don't take the chance of ending, or ruining, your life or someone else's.  Regardless of what anyone else says or does…you are old enough to make a quality decision that reflects on your maturity  and whether or not you are worthy of the trust being placed in you.  This is just one of many decisions you will have to make about what kind of person you are going to be.  It's not cool to be reckless and irresponsible.  Choose wisely…and have a great time unmarred by tragedy.  I'm Jim Cameron…write and tell us what's on your mind.
