We all know that we should drink eight glasses of water a day, but how many of us actually do that?
Peggy Hall has a simple solution to making plain 'ole H2O more appealing.
"One of my favorite ways is to use watermelon," says Peggy. "You can use the rind and everything."
Watermelon contains licopene -- that's what gives it its red color. Licopene is an antioxidant, which is good for heart health.
You can even make your own "spa" water by using cucumber slices and orange slices or lemon slices. The citrus fruits are high in vitamin C, which is great for your skin and your immune system.
Cucumber is a rich source of natural sodium. Sodium is one of our body's electrolytes, and the electrolytes are what keep our own fluids in balance.
"The other kind of water that I love, is simply mint-infused water," Peggy adds. "The color green comes from chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is actually the life blood of the plant. And in turn, the chlorophyll nourishes and purifies our own blood."
Basically, you've made your own version of a sports drink without the added sugar, without the artificial flavor, and without spending any extra money.
"I like to drink two to three quarts of water a day," says Peggy. "I use a juice jar and three rubber bands. Every time I finish a jar of water, I remove a rubber band and that helps me stay on track. When you're drinking water as delicious as this, it's easy!"
