Generally:
- Age 55 or older.
- Medicare Part B recipient.
- Patient is medically stable, ambulatory or uses a cane, walker or wheelchair and must be able to get to activities and group rooms without staff assistance.
- Patient voluntarily enters treatment and is motivated to engage in treatment.
- Experiencing current disturbance in mood or behavior.
- Have the ability to participate in group sessions.
- He/she must be able to understand, agree to and follow group structure and activities independently.
- Patient must demonstrate a reasonable expectation of improvement in his/her disorder or condition as a result of the active treatment provided.
- The psychiatrist must initiate the course of treatment.
- Patient must have the capacity to actively participate in therapies prescribed.
- Patient is not requiring 24-hour care.
- Patient is in need of more intensive treatment that cannot be met at a lower level of service.
