Jones County Sheriff's Department Narcotic Investigators placed two suspects behind bars Tuesday, shortly after 2p.m., for drugs.
Sheriff Alex Hodge said investigators issued a search warrant to the Magnolia Motor Lodge on Highway 11 to room 48, after receiving complaints of drug activity.
Upon arriving on scene, investigators identified the subject in question as he attempted to leave the scene driving a 2003 Ford F-150. He was apprehended by investigators before leaving the motel parking lot.
According to Sergeant Robert Little with the Investigative Division; after a search of the vehicle, it was revealed that the subject, James Moore, 41, of Illinois was in possession of an undetermined amount of heroin and currency.
Shortly thereafter, investigators made entry into room 48 and located the second subject in question, Tyrone Mosley, 55 of Laurel. Several prescription pills and various pieces of drug paraphernalia were also discovered in the room.
Both subjects were placed under arrest and booked in the Jones County Adult Detention Facility on charges of possession of a controlled substance.
Hodge added, "We would like to thank Laurel Police Department Officers and concerned citizens for their assistance in this case."
