Lumberton School Board defers Brown, Pittman decision to Lumberton administrators

LUMBERTON, MS (WDAM) -

A number of angry parents attended Tuesday night's Lumberton Public School Board meeting to formally protest the firing of two Lumberton High School coaches. After an executive session that lasted until 8:45 pm, the Lumberton Public School Board voted to keep the ultimate decision of whether or not to renew both coach's contracts in the hands of the Lumberton High School Administration.

Shane Brown, an assistant baseball coach with Lumberton, and Anthony Pittman, the Panthers' fifth-year head boys basketball coach both received word their contracts would not be extended past this year.

As a result, parents of Lumberton athletes not only placed signs throughout Lumberton pleading to keep both Brown and Pittman, but formed a petition they hoped would sway the minds of the Lumberton School Board.
