HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

High school students from across the Pine Belt are prepping for the upcoming prom season, but they aren't the only ones.

Local law enforcement spent the day Monday participating in party prevention and controlled party dispersal training.

Part of their training included a mock party of local youth at Open Door Church along Oak Grove Road in Hattiesburg. From the sick teenager in the bathroom. To the likely excuses they'd hear. The officers had a little bit of everything thrown at them.

Officers then applied principals learned during the classroom portion of their training to effectively disperse the party.

The event was sponsored by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws Programs, Mississippians Advocating Against Underage Drinking, and DREAM, Inc.
