BILOXI, MS (WLOX) -
The sound of progress echoed across the Margaritaville Casino property as construction workers race against the clock to get the structure ready for opening day.
Fresh off the excitement of interviewing thousands of people hoping to be added to the Margaritaville team, you can see the overall vision a bit clearer as the building is just about ready to debut.
"Things are moving very rapidly. We're finalizing our staff additions, doing our interviews and our screenings. The office, we now have more than 50 executives in it filling out those staff needs. Things are going well, everyday is a party," Margaritaville President and CEO, Tom Brosig said.
There's good reason for the party mood, and managers aren't the only ones excited. Mr. Jimmy Buffett himself approves.
"He was here on Monday. We had a private meeting where we went through a lot of his philosophical desires to see implemented on the property. For us it was very good that we had already built most of those already; there were very few changes. The report back was that he was absolutely ecstatic when he saw that it epitomizes the authenticity that we wanted to capture in his hometown casino," Brosig said.
Magaritaville owners say in order to integrate the unique beauty of the Mississippi coastline, it's all about location.
This area with the new bridge, and the new fishing pier and the lights of Ocean Springs and D'Iberville, it offers a lot of scenery both daytime and nighttime.
When you capture that with the water that pretty much surrounds you, you have a wonderful part of town that's been underdeveloped and can now bring economy to the citizens of Harrison County.
The Margaritaville Casino and Resort opens the week of May 20th.
