The Laurel Leader Call publishes last paper Thursday

On Monday, Community Newspaper Holdings, the parent company of The Laurel Leader Call, sent orders to stop the paper's presses forever.

Eighteen employees will lose their jobs.

The Laurel Leader Call opened its doors in 1911. William Howard Taft was President, and the Titanic was being constructed.

Publisher Mitchell Lynch said, "It was founded basically August 11, 1911 as the Laurel Daily Argus and then later changed its name to the Laurel Daily Leader and in 1930 became the Laurel Leader Call."

The final issue will be published on Thursday.
