OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - New Mississippi athletic director Ross Bjork says he's ready to help the Rebels "compete for and win championships."

The 39-year-old Bjork was introduced Thursday afternoon. He's replacing Pete Boone, who is retiring in mid-April after more than 13 years as Mississippi's AD.

Bjork was the AD at Western Kentucky, where he had guided the Hilltoppers' athletic programs since March 2010. The Dodge City, Kan., native has also worked in the athletic departments at UCLA, Miami and Missouri.

Bjork inherits a football program that recently hired first-year coach Hugh Freeze, who took over from Houston Nutt after a dismal 2-10 season. Ole Miss is also in the midst of a $150 million capital campaign to raise funds for a new basketball arena and upgrades to the football stadium.
