WDAM Viewpoint- Congrats to USM Basketball

Posted: Updated:

When Larry Eustachy took over as head basketball coach at Southern Miss 8 seasons ago he was a man who had been to the mountain top of collegiate basketball coaching, but due to some unfortunate choices in his personal life he was a man in need of a second chance.  He got the opportunity to start afresh at Southern Miss with a program that was in need of a path of redemption as well.  Both the man and the program have come far since that faithful day with the Golden Eagles making only their 1st appearance in the NCAA tournament in 21 years, and only their 3rd ever,  this week.  While they lost in the first round to Kansas State, it is good to see them back in the show.  This was a good season for the Golden Eagles and we'd like to congratulate them and Coach Eustachy for a job well done.  It is our wish that they start off next year with a great deal of momentum and fan support behind them and take the program up a historical notch by climbing higher than round one when March Madness rolls around in 2013.
