Brown, Illinois State down Rebels 96-93 in overtime

OXFORD, MS (WDAM)- Illinois State guard Tyler Brown mis-fired on just one shot all night, shot 90 percent from the floor, and hit an absurd eight three pointers en route to a 26-point night that helped burry the Ole Miss Rebels 96-93 in overtime.

Ole Miss trailed, and by as many as 12, most of the night, but a Terrance Henry and one gave the rebels a one point 84-83 lead with :29 seconds left in regulation. But a Reginald Buckner foul with :11 seconds left put Redbirds guard Anthony Cousin, who only scored two points all night, at the line for two shots. He could have sealed a win in regulation, but missed the first and made the second to force the overtime session.

Illinois State lead by as much as six in the overtime period, but the Rebels once again fought back and had the chance to tie or take the lead down two with :10 left to play. But Nick Williams turned the ball over, Cousin once again connected on one of two free throws, and the Redbirds held on.

As locked in as Brown was, he wasn't the only one. Redbirds guard Nic Moore turned in 24 points to go along with 10 assists, and wearing white and blue, Rebels guard Ladarius White hit 10 of 12 shots, and four of six three pointers for 25 points.

Rebels forward Terrance Henry logged 21 points, while teammates Jarvis Summers and Murphy Holloway both scored 16 a piece, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Redbirds hot shooting. Visiting Illinois State shot 62 percent from the floor and a staggering 73 percent from long range. The Redbirds connected on 17 treys on the night.
