Pickering says Mitt Romney gained ground with Mississippians

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The republican presidential candidates continue to appeal for votes, the day before the primary.

Mitt Romney didn't make a stop in the Pine Belt, but he did drive through Hattiesburg on Hwy. 49 as he headed to Jackson this afternoon.

State Auditor Stacey Pickering, the State Chairman for the Romney campaign, joined some college students to show their support for Romney on the eve of the primary. Pickering says Romney has gained a lot of ground with voters in Mississippi.

"He has really done well connecting with Mississippians of all levels and all communities across the state. The delegate count is far and above all of our other candidates, and right now it's become almost a mathematical equation where it is impossible for him not to be the nominee come August," said Pickering.
