Simmons gets 10 years in prison for manslaughter

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A Hattiesburg man will spend 10 years in prison for the beating death of another man last summer. 

Raffeal Simmons, 26, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of Jerry minor, 55, in July.

Minor's body was found in a wooded area near the Hattiesburg Police Department.

Simmons was sentenced to 20 years with 10 years to serve.

He'll also be on five years of post-release supervision.
