Hattiesburg business donates $10,000 to help hungry children

A $10,000 donation from a Hattiesburg business will keep the bellies of many local kids full this year.

Resinal Corp Community Benefit Fund made the sizable donation Thursday afternoon to the Mississippi Food Network. The network will use the money to expand its child-feeding program. The Oseola McCarty Youth Development Center, which participates in the after-school snack program, will benefit the most from this contribution.

"We are actually going to finish our kitchen," said Janet Baldwin of the Oseola McCarty Youth Development Center. "We have done a lot of the renovation, but we still have a lot of electrical work and stuff that has to be done. We are going to use those funds to get it up to par so that we can start operating."

The Network works with six after-school snack programs. The program also provides tutoring, mentoring and youth development activities.
