Forrest County AHS dominates in win, Laurel eliminated

JACKSON, MS (WDAM)- The Forrest County AHS Lady Aggies defeated Lafayette 86-72 in the Big House Monday night. Their reward? They get to play another undefeated for the right to hoist a state championship trophy on Friday at 7:00 pm.

Laurel will not have the same opportunity after falling to Amanda Elzy 63-59. The Golden Tornadoes dug themselves a hole they simply could not climb out of, after trailing by 13 at the half. Laurel scratched and clawed and made it a two-point contest with under 2:00 remaining in regulation, and had an open three-point attempt to tie with :28 seconds left.

The shot sailed well long, and Amanda Elzy hit just enough free throws to hang on. Laurel finishes its season with a 23-7 record and trip to Jackson for the first time since 2007.
